Soundtrack -3 is a special tribute to the Godfather of Rockabilly, Carl Perkins, featuring his son, Carl Stanley Perkins, and Jerry Naylor.
Carl Lee Perkins, at age six, learned to play the guitar in the cotton field from an elderly black man he called, “Uncle John Westbrook.” Uncle John placed his long bony fingers on top of Carl’s small hands, helping him form the chords on the guitar neck.
Uncle John also gave Carl his most valuable counsel, “See, Carl Lee, it ain’t just in the guitar, it’s in the fingers. What I mean by that is, it’s in the soul.” When the Carl challenged Uncle John as to how he could get that soul in his fingers, Uncle John told him to lean his head down on the guitar. “Get down close to it. You can feel it travel down the strangs, come through your head and down to your soul. You can feel it. Let it vi-ber-ate.”
