Biography (1932 – 2003)
Johnny Cash was born in Arkansas. He and his six siblings sang as they worked long days picking cotton. Stationed in Germany after WWII, he bought his first guitar and taught himself to play – determined to become a country singer song writer. His success has been astonishing, 1,500 songs, 130 country chart hits, 15 million records sold.
Today, after nearly a half century in Show Business, he is a beloved crossover star, a member of both, the Country Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
